The Mental Load we carry as Mothers is a lot, and it can become too much. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out mentally, exhausted physically, absent emotionally.
What is the cost?
Your Motherhood. Your child(ren)'s childhood. Perhaps, also your relationship with the significant other. Your friendships. Your health. Your work. Your community.
I understand. Since becoming a Mother, and as our family grew, the mental load has been increasing. More people relying on me. More people to care for. More appointments, birthday parties, activities, playdates, classes, teachers, friends, hobbies, clothes, food and snacks... And of course less time, less energy, less sleep, less self-care...
Until! You jump on the break on this cycle. I have designed a programme for you to do exactly that.
Diffuse Overwhelm is an 8-session programme of 30 minute coaching calls. We focus on how to lighten the mental load and get you to experience real joy and fulfilment as a result:
Clarity: understanding the "heaviness" of the load - usually there are certain elements of our life that make the load feel too heavy and have the potential to tip us over the edge of managing well. We talk through what's on for you, what brings you joy and what steals away your energy. We usually uncover some blindspots that drain you.
Prioritisation: in my experience, the mental load becomes a bucket of everything from thinking about your parenting, daycare/school related responsibilities, long term plans, work related matters, house keeping, events, appointments... Basically, everything that we care about, need to remember, have to organise, and want to do. The first significant shift in the load comes from categorising "everything" into priority buckets. However, it is often hard to make time and headspace to create the buckets when you're in the thick of it. I have a framework to help you step by step.
Boundaries: More and more often I work with Mums that find themselves overloaded because they are not able to set expectations and communicate their boundaries effectively, both with themselves and with others. This is usually because of some underlying limiting beliefs that we uncover and replace with helpful and empowering beliefs.
Planning: I share with you a system for productivity. It is about planning and managing your time. The first step is to explore your relationship with time and why you often wish you had extra hours in a day. Then we analyse how your time gets allocated, measured and spent. We get in you in the driver seat of your time. We plan according to your energy levels and likely particularly busy or high-stress periods. We look at what and how can be delegated. We learn to schedule according to your expectations and boundaries. We get you out of the constant juggling and into a measured, calm, and confident control over all that needs to be done.
Self-Compassion / Self-care: This is one of the most crucial steps in the programme where you get to design how you are going to manage your own mental and emotional state. There is a wealth of advice out there. But we make the practical, easy-to-implement solution tailored to you, your life, your circumstances, your preferences and - importantly - your schedule and accountability type. This ensures you do take time you need to recharge.
Triggers: I take note of the triggers you mention throughout the sessions. Once we have some plans for how you will lift your load in place, we look at how your triggers for feeling overwhelmed and out of control (or other triggers we discover) could prevent you from staying free, focussed and intentional about taking action according to your plans.
Off-load: we design ways for you to off-load the heaviness should it get too heavy. This is very individual and can range from talking it through with a trusted accountability partner to something more simple as going for a long run.
I provide tools, strategies and structure. You get to design your life and take actions. You get daily transformational habits that last your lifetime. You get fulfilment. You get to love your life!
You are here because you are finding the load too much. I don't want to add to your plate. So I make LYL Coaching really accessible. Our coaching sessions are over a video call so it feels like we're having a chat but without the hassle of getting somewhere.
I also know that Mums rarely spend on themselves and believe that Coaching is too expensive. I can only invite you to consider the cost of staying overwhelmed, anxious and tired, and disconnected most of the time...
I know that for a lot of us Mums investing in ourselves and our own support appears more like spending what we could have spent on our kids. I can never determine the value of fulfilment and happiness, nor can I quantify the cost of overwhelm, feeling tired and disconnected.
So I encourage you to think what it is worth to you, and how much (as %) of your combined annual income you can invest to lift the heaviness of the mental load and transform your life now so that you have a life full of joy, fun, connectedness and yet productivity and control.
What will it mean for you and your children?
What will they remember you like?
What is it worth to you to be the Mum who is not burdened by the mental load?
For you to decide what kind of investment is best for you, it is best for us to have a chat about what you'd like for us to work on. That way we will be able to decide on the length and frequency of the sessions to support you in the best way in what matters to you, fit in with your schedule and progress and celebrate at the right pace for you.
